Titch Practicing staff motivation technique, right boot method.
This month we have lots of congratulations to give to out.
Welcome to the yard and Congratulations to Mark Coumbe our new apprentice Jockey. He just had his fist win for the yard.

He rode Chatshow, the horses first time out since coming back into training, to a great win at Bath.  Lets hope its the first of many. Keep it up!

Two new girls have joined the yard team. Claire and Sammy.  Having just  having successfully completed their 9 week Foundation Course at the British Racing School in Newmarket.  Now their work, and assessment, continues at  the yard. An excellent way to enter the competitive world of Horse Racing.

So if you have ever wondered how to get started you cannot do much better, click on the link to the right of these photos to go to The British Racing Schools website. They are recognised the world over for their excellent training.

So welcome Claire and  Sammy. Its good to have you with us.

After 58 hours of practice, but on her first attempt, Cathy has passed her driving test!  CONGRATULATIONS!!!

On August 26th 2006 two members of our staff, Dave & Becky, were married at St Michaels’s Church in Warwks.  It was hard to believe that two people could scrub up so well!! The happy couple are seen below leaving the church.

January 2007.  Well Christmas has come and gone.  Those of you fortunate enough to have attended, will  I am sure  have enjoyed the Staff & Owners Christmas party.  Our thanks to Sarah for organising that.  Sorry no photographs! 100% my fault I was too busy thinking about the fog and forgot my camera. If you were wondering which of the many who attended I was, just try to remember the youngest most handsome guy there.............  and I was sitting next to him.

Anyone want any mud?  One thing we are not short of this month. It seems to rain every day.  All  goes to show the dedication of the staff. We sit in our cars sipping hot coffee whilst watching the lads & lasses exercising the horses outside.  It’s a hard job but someone has to do it, yes I don’t think the riders appreciate how irritating it is having to keep demisting the windows.  :)

The horses and staff have settled in to their new home quite well over the past year. You can feel it in the atmosphere of the yard.  I have it from a good source who has made intensive study of the statistics and form of the horses that the stable will do even better this year.  So there you have it! and Bert on the Sandwich Van is not usually wrong!!!

Thank you for reading this. If you have any photos of the Christmas party, or any others come to that,  please let me have them. Editor@awcarroll.co.uk.

More next month ( If I have not been fired in the mean time for writing this)

Feb 2007.

Visitors will have noticed a new face around the yard over the past month or so.
A new assistant trainer to Tony.  Mary Coll.  This young lady is highly qualified for the postition having been a well respected instructor at the British Racing School.  Her husband Robin has also joined Mary to become Estate Manager for the yard.  These new positions reflect the growing nature of the yard.  As hard as he tries Tony Carroll can not be everywhere at once and these  latest additions to the staff will be a great help to Tony.

Tony knows and appreciates Marys affinity with horses.  Not only does Mary come with an excellent reputation and references but also boasts the same initial training and upbringing with horses, she should do as she is Tonys sister. Yes horse racing is in the blood.

The December 2006 British Racing School's Newsletter reflects on Mary & Robin Colls move.  An extract below. However if you wish to read the full December 2006 news letter CLICK HERE.

"Closer to home the Scheme was also runner-up in the Innovative Project category in the inaugural West Anglia Sports Partnership awards. Mary is pictured with the awards and the NVQ2 Year 11 class.  Sadly, Mary has been offered the excellent opportunity of the job of Assistant Trainer to her brother Tony Carroll and is set to take up the position in the New Year. Her husband
Robin Coll, a BRS PE Instructor, is also set to join the yard as Estates Manager and we wish them both well in their new jobs.

...........................In addition she has instructed on the Pony Racing training days and greatly assisted Richard Perham in the delivery of Jockey Training. She was also instrumental in encouraging her husband Robin, (a renowned long distance runner), to take on the task of supervising the evening PE sessions at the School. Robin has tirelessly motivated trainees in improving their fitness and has done a great job. Mary is universally loved by trainees, staff and everyone she comes into contact with. She has a calm teaching manner that instils confidence and earns the respect of everyone whom she has taught. Over the years Mary has made a real contribution to the School and she will be sadly missed. We wish Mary and Robin, and their two daughters, Roberta and Sophie, the very best wishes in their new life in Worcestershire. "

A new button has been added to the 'Office' Page.  Racecards.
It is pretty obvious what its about.  Now you can check to see if your horse has made it through the ballots, check out the opposition etc in one easy click.

I have used this site in preference to Raceing Post because it is nearly always the first to put up changes, declarations and ballot results.
If anyone has any more requests please feel free to email the editor with your suggestions. Thank you.

Yet another button added to Office page.  A button marked Search no its not a button to search this website. Its for you to obtain details of horses, Jockeys etc. Give it a try!

The yard braved the high seas and took four horses to Guernsey.  Must have been all the wet weather training that the horses have undertook recently because all four came back with something to celebrate.  Backlash romped home 3rd to the delight of its owner who actually  lives in Guernsey.  Savoy Chapel had a 4th. Flashing Floozy left the field behind to charge in to first place. As did Saintly Place who got another first for the yard and its owners.

Ever had one of those days when you wish  you had a little more forsight rather than a lot of hindsight?  This was the case at Warwick Racecourse yesterday as the Stable Jockey Mark Coumbe rode in at second place with Lordship at 50 to 1.  Well done Mark (and Lordship of course.)
July 21th 2007    Floods.

If you, like myself, were concerned about Tonys yard in the recent floods that are currently effecting the whole of the midlands please don't be.  Thought I can not get to the yard myself, because of the extremely bad road conditions, I have spoken to Tony on the telephone today and the yard is relatively unscathed and all the horses are well and dry.  Fortunately Tony is luckier than most other trainers in the area due to the excellent placement of the yard,  the Millhouse  Stables are well situated on the top of a small hill.  Training continues on his all weather tracks.   If  you cannot appreciate how bad the rain was in this area take a look at the photos below. All we need now are dry racecourses to run on! Tony asked to pass on his thanks to all who expressed concern.
Evesham 20th July 2007
July 23rd 2007    Floods.

Visitors will have a few problems reaching  the Stables.  The road to Cropthorne has a small rut in the road. Looks like the horseboxes are going to have to take a different route!
Things returning to normal.  As you can see from the photographs I took yesterday at the Millhouse yard,  apart from slightly muddy ground in places, training is as normal.  You can even get to the yard from Evesham and Pershore now. The sun was shining yesterday, Tuesday, when I took these photographs. If you are visiting the yard from the Pershore direction dodge the hole by going through Cropthorne village (see below)

Boring stuff first. The main Evesham to Pershore road is open again at long last! Been closed since the 20th July.   See Gallop Gossip for July.

Festive fever is in the yard.  Every one is looking foward to the Yards Christmas Party, all owners etc are invited of course. Please telephone the office for details.  There is a rumour going around that Sarah is going to do the dance of the 7 horse blankets at the party, can't wait to see that.

More good news remember earlier in the year David & Becky got married? (click  here)
Well Becky has had given birth to a little girl. She is a bonny bouncing filly, so she obviously does not take after her dad,  so on behalf of Tony, Joe and everyone in the yard congratulations to the both of you. We are very happy for you. What a lovely Christmas Present.! (when can she start work?)

Whilst we are on the subject of Christmas I have been asked by Tony & Joe and the ladies in the office to wish everyone be it owners, the Lads & Lasses at the yard and all our friends a very happy Christmas.  And  I too  , the editor,  would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a happy new year. May all your wins be big ones.

Christmas sprit at the yard. A shy memeber of staff playing hunt the crackers. No name's though because we dont want to get Titch in trouble do we?
My last report in 2007.  So I shall make it memorable, but not too memorable, if you know what I mean.  Some photo's have not yet been shown due to outcome of blackmail payments......   (I am joking, honest)
