Changes

You may have  noticed the website has not been updated recently.  This is because of other commitments on my time I have been unable to give the website the attention it deserves.  I informed the yard and handed back control to them.

As you can appreciate the office has a lot of behind the scenes work to do so it may take some time for everything to sort itself out.

In the meantime please feel free to click on the new link at the top of the page to take a look at the Twitter account.  Sam, from the yard office, is doing a good job keeping everyone updated from there.

She obviously puts a lot of time and effort into the Twitter connection.

I will keep popping back in occasionally to update the odd item or so until the website is fully taken over again.

In the meantime thank you for your interest and support.

All in all impressive result. Well done to both, not of course forgetting our own stable Jockey Elisha Whittington for her wins there.

A special message from Tony Carroll.

The Brighton Festival.

Tony has asked me to put this message up for him.

Can I say a very big thank you to all the connections with regard to the recent Brighton Festival.

Its been a tremendous success and it would not have happened with out the support and backing of the connections.

A lot of horses were entered and I recognise the confidence you have placed in me to put the right horse, jockey and race together.   It was not easy but the result was good with five wins and five places at Brighton.

These results also reflects well on the hard work of my stable staff and the courage and fitness of the horses.

In conclusion I would just like to thank you again for your trust and hope that you too enjoyed these past few days as much as we have.

Trainer.   Tony Carroll.

Editors footnote.

Since the 1st of August we have had 20 wins or places. A remarkable fete in just eleven days!

11th August

A winning catch up.

A big catch up today.  Tony launched a lot of runners this week and it looks like its paid off.  I have loads of winners to catch up on so I'd better get on with it.

One thing I should mention though.  When you click on the link where it says something like "click me to watch race" you will be directed to the At The Races replay website.  The actual race has already been linked to.  However each time I arrive at the site nothing happens.  You have to click the refresh button. Thats the circle? type button top left of most web pages.  Alternatively you can press the F5 button, its usually around the line of normal numbers at the top of the key board.  Sorry about this.  Nothing to do with the TC website it is a quirk of the ATR site.

Anyway enjoy the catch up!

This is what its all about.................

We all all interested in the great sport of racing, after all that is why you are on here isn't it.  Love of the thrill of racing, perhaps the odd little wager.  Love of horses.  The atmosphere of the racecourse.

The new front page sums it up.  Happy connections. A delighted Jockey and a very fit horse.  Taken at Doncaster at the 'Clock Tower Cup'.

Life is a collection of memories and that photo will be a good one to store away for years to come.

Talking of photos I must thank Nigel.  http://www.nigelkirbyphotography.com/

For the excellent selection of photos he has kindly let me use.  Its worth popping over to his website for a quick look.  This is not a sales pitch just recognition of his good photos.  Thanks again Nigel.

You can tell by the odds that this horse was up against some very stiff opposition which of course makes his win even greater.   Coming first is always great but against a field of 22, yes 22, other runners of this class is truly remarkable.  All credit to Tony and the staff at the yard and the connections.  That must have been quite a day for them.  The summary below does not really do it justice. However I have put some links up for you to watch the race and judge for yourself.

A catch up.

Bath Races.

Yesterday I drove through the heavy downpours to Bath Racecourse.  When I arrived I stopped the rain and proceeded to watch Tony's entries in the sunshine.

I will not go into individual results but a good days racing was had.  Not only that they do serve rather nice fish and chips in the owners and trainers!

Our friends who had joined us at Bath also stayed on for the after races entertainment.  They finally made their way home just after midnight. Having spent another couple of hours singing and dancing.  Too energetic for me!

So if your new to racing there is far more to the sport than most appreciate. Racecourses across the country are doing their best to tempt you to their venue. A days racing can be a very social occasion in more ways than one.

The new photo on the front page is the wonderful Poetic Force at the winners enclosure.  The report on that race, and Rose Hips earlier win, below.

Stable Visit

Sun was out as I drove up to the yard yesterday.  As  I approached the stable blocks a small group gathered to watch the spectacle of horses being released into the paddocks.  A little reminiscent of schoolchildren coming out of school to start their holidays.    All horses released at the same time they tore into their individual spaces at great speed. Bucking and kicking.  Springing upwards to kick at the air.   One of those times your glad your not in there with them.   After a few minutes they eventually settled down and started grazing.   With the sun on their backs and fresh green grass to eat it must have felt great for them.

While the horses were relaxing in the sunshine the staff were busy cleaning.  Stables empted.  Steam pressure washer blasting away any dirt they could find.  Hard work but worth it.   Especially if someone else is doing it and not me.  :)

I must say, touch wood-plastic-earth and anything else you can think of, the horses are looking especially well this year.   We are hoping for great things, but of course I will not say that as I do not want to put the 'mockers' on anything.

9th April

Stable Visit

I paid a visit to the stables this morning. A few other owners joined me on the gallops.  Hence the new front page photo.    It was cold out there.  The photo does not do the North Easterly wind and rain justice.  One of those chills that cuts right through you.  Did not seem to effect the horses though.

New season just started and the horses are starting to come together so to speak. They looked fit but the opinion seemed to be they could get fitter. Quite a few though show high promise for the coming year. (touch wood, plastic and anything else I can find)  Tony is already trying to match up horses with potential future runs.   Luckily for us TC will only be happy with a 100% first place rating and he is striving to attain that lofty , and impossible, ideal.

No carrots given out this morning in case the horses went on the  gallops so to compensate myself and a couple of other owners went for breakfast at a local farm cafe'.   Very nice it was too!

Stable Visit

I paid an early morning visit to the stables.   Enjoyed watching them on the gallops, hence the new front page picture.  Of course at the moment the industry has been somewhat limited by the Equine Influenza outbreak stopping all the horses racing all over the UK.   Which at the time of writing this is due to restart tomorrow.  It's a real pain in the horsebox but a necessary one.  I can report though the horses at Mill House Stables are, touch wood, plastic and anything else to hand, quite well.  They certainly looked fit enough on the Gallops.  The yard has got off to a terrific start this season we just hope to keep it that way!

The usual carrots etc dished out.  Happy horses!

2nd February

A win!
